The institution also operates several off-campus campuses and facilities throughout the territory. The campus holds around 6000 students and 220 administrative employees. The main university campus is based in Whitehorse, Yukon University provides northern-focused education, training, and applied research opportunities

STUDENTS LIFE

The majority of the university’s residential buildings are located on the western periphery that is readily available for housing students. In addition to its main campus in Whitehorse, the university also maintains several satellite off-campus facilities.

RESEARCH

Research Centre’s at Yukon University mainly draws its research on western science and Indigenous knowledge to create and share innovative northern solutions. Some of its focus areas are climate change and adaptation in northern Canada, impacts of thawing permafrost on infrastructure, climate policy and decision-making support, sustainable energy production, mine remediation.

PROGRAMS AND ACADEMIC GROUPS

Yukon University offers certificates, diplomas, and degrees through six academic areas – the School of Academic and Skill Development, School of Science, School of Trades, Technology and Mining, School of Health, Education and Human Services, School of Liberal Arts, and the School of Business and Leadership.

It also accommodates contract training demands by local industry and government in a range of specialties.
