The legislative assembly incorporated the university in April 2018. The institution plans to accept its first batch of full-time students in 2021. Efforts to establish a Francophone university in central and southwestern Ontario emerged in 2010, with several Franco Ontarian groups, including the Francophone Assembly, releasing a report that recommended creating a Francophone university within the region 2014.
STUDENTS LIFE
University of French Ontario administration is working on crediting partnerships with Africa, Asia, and Europe to attract international students. After the partnership agreement is signed, students will receive credits recognized at the University of French Ontario and the affiliated institution.
RESEARCH
In September 2019, the governments of Ontario and Canada announced they had signed an agreement, which would see both governments provide money to fund the institution over the following eight years. The money will help acquire specialized and trained people to assist in knowledge development and research.
PROGRAMS AND ACADEMIC GROUPS
The university offered its first academic program in 2019, a higher education pedagogy program for teaching. The first graduate certificates were issued for those who completed the program.
In 2021, the campus is expected to offer programs in human plurality, globalized economy, urban environments, digital cultures, management communications, social work, law, and psychology.
