In 2005 the institution opened programs for international students after forming a partnership with universities from Brazil, China, Senegal, Lebanon, and Morocco.

The campus has 250 residential places, where 150 are preserved for the first-year students. The on-campus accommodation offers facilities like; studios, rooms-suite, two bedrooms, three bedrooms, and four bedrooms homes, which are fully furnished and with all the services needed for a student.

The Universite du Quebec in Chicoutimi is well known for its devotion to research. It is well known for its research in forestry, geology, regional population studies, and the aluminum industry, which has two research Centres inspected by the national research Centre of Canada.
