The school provides undergraduate, postgraduate and parttime programs. The major fields it deals with include Tourism and Engineering, Biodiversity, Tropical Healthcare, and Marine Sciences. Its various colleges include College of Healthcare Sciences, College of Arts Society and Education, College of Science and engineering and College of Public Health.
Campuses and Student Numbers
The school consist of three main campuses. Two of them are located in Australia and one is located in Singapore. It also has study centers that are catered towards students living in remote areas. These centers are located in Mount Isa, Mackay and Thursday Island.
In 2003, the Singapore International campus was established. By 2018 it had more than 3000 students. Degrees offered by the school are accredited by the James Cook University in Australia. The Cairns Campus consists of more than 4000 students of which 385 are from foreign countries. On the other hand, the Townsville campus had more than 13,000 students of which 1100 are from foreign countries.
Research
The university is committed to offering quality and impactful research. This caused it to join the Innovative Research Universities in 2007. Examples of facilities and centers where it conducts its research include; Daintree Rainforest Observatory, Cyclone Testing Station Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine, Advanced Analytical Center and Marine and Aquaculture Research Facility.
Accommodation Facilities
The university provides accommodation facilities for its students. The residential halls in the Townsville campus accommodate up to 1231 students. It also offers catering services. The residential hall in Cairns accommodates 300 students.
