Griffith University is located in South East Queensland in Australia. The school was established in 1971, and it opened its doors in 1975. The school started out with 451 students. At the time, it only consisted of one campus. The school was named after Sir Samuel Walker Griffith. He was the Premier of Queensland twice, and a chief justice in Australia’s High Court.

Campuses
Currently, the school consists of 5 physical campuses, and one online campus. The Goal Coast campus located in Southport and the Nathan campus located in Brisbane are the two largest campuses. Other campuses located in Brisbane are South Bank campus and Mount Gravatt campus. The other campus is the Logan campus located at Meadowbrook. The digital campus was established in 2018.
Research
The university is involved in research activities. It is also a member of the International Research Universities. Major areas that it focuses on include climate change, water science, sustainable tourism, criminology, and health and chronic disease. The researchers utilize 38 centers and institutes. They include Cities Research Institute, Griffith Criminology Institute, Griffith Institute for Tourism, Institute of Glycomics, and Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery.
Programs and Academic Groups
The university offers programs in undergraduate, postgraduate and research. Major Disciplines include Business and Government, Engineering and Information Technology, Criminology and Law, Planning and Architecture and Humanities and Languages. The four academic groups within which the institution is divided are Griffith Health, Griffith Sciences, Griffith Arts, Education and Law and Griffith Business School.
Student Life
Accommodation facilities are also provided by the university. There are four residential colleges in Griffith University. One is located in Mount Gravatt, one in Gold Coast and two in the Nathan campus. The school also has 2 student organizations. One for undergraduate students and another for postgraduate students.
