Emily Carr University of Arts and Design is situated in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and it is a public type university. It is one of the oldest post-secondary institutions in British Columbia and is the only university with courses based solely on arts, media, and design. The university was established in 1925. Formerly known as Vancouver School of Decorative and Applied Arts, Emily Carr University of Arts and Designs was the first-ever university that was a degree-granting institution in the entire British Columbia created for visual and performing students arts together. 

In the number of students, the university has a total number of 1,610 full-time undergraduates and 154 part-time undergraduates. Not just that, there are around 85 postgraduate students in the university.

By 2017, the university shifted to a brand-new campus near Great Northern Way at 520 East 1st Avenue. Besides this, the university provides complete security on the campus ranging from the parking lot to lockers. On the campus, both the undergraduate and registered students get locker rentals. These lockers are based in numerous hallways of the buildings.

The university has a vast library on its campus and stores valuable items such as books, media, journals, databases, and more. 

Research

Three Canada Research Chairs join the Emily Carr University of Art and Design’s research unit. There are several infamous research centers that the university has and where it conducts research. Some of its famous research centers include a good media lab, living labs, material matters, a health design lab, and more. 

Programs and Academic Groups

The university offers well-known arts, media, and design-center courses. The students can choose a course that resonates with their [passion and dream. Here are the degree programs that the university provides:-

  • Bachelor of Media Arts
  • Bachelor of Design in Communication Design, Interaction Design or Industrial Design
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation, Film/Video, Illustration, Visual Arts, General Fine Arts or Photography

Student Life

In the case of a residence, unfortunately, the university does not offer a direct residence to the students. If students want to live, they can opt to live at the Centre for Digital Media in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood. This is because the school is located beside a residential area that offers various off-campus housing to the students. In off-campus options, the students get access to private rentals, homestays, sharing apartments, temporary housings, and more.
