The University of Rochester was established in 1850 as a private Research University in Rochester, New York. The university was based on the origin of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton of New York. The Baptist Education society was renamed Hamilton Literary Institute in the year 1817.

The University of Rochester contains seven different campuses, namely- Medical campus which URMC- the University of Rochester Medical Center, which includes schools of medicine, nursing, dentistry, and much more. South Campus- contains Energy-funded National Labs, NSRL– Nuclear Structure Research Laboratory, River Campus- has Libraries and halls, Prince Street Campus and Art Gallery, Bristol Mountain Observatory, and The Eastman of Music.

The University provides annual funding of $438 million. The university contains sixty institutes and research centers, and a 77percent of graduate students apply in research fields in medical, physics, humanities, political sciences, computer science, audio research, eye research institute, American music, English studies, neuroscience, and much more.
