About University

Hungary

Founded in 1367, the University of Pécs (UP) is Hungary’s oldest institution of higher education and a cornerstone of European academic history. Located in the culturally rich, Mediterranean-style city of Pécs, this elite research university hosts a vibrant community of over 20,000 students, including a diverse international body of 4,500+ learners from more than 100 countries. Globally recognized for its Medical School, UP offers WHO-accredited degrees in Medicine, Pharmacy, and Dentistry that fully align with the NMC (National Medical Commission) 2021 Guidelines. This ensures that the 6-year MBBS program, which includes a mandatory 12-month clinical internship conducted entirely in English, is valid for practice in India.
The university maintains a prestigious global standing, consistently appearing in the QS World University Rankings within the 701–750 range and holding a top 500 spot for Medical and Health Sciences. As a member of the European Digital University alliance, UP seamlessly blends centuries of tradition with modern innovation, featuring state-of-the-art facilities like the Szentágothai Research Centre. Admission for international aspirants is merit-based, requiring a qualified NEET score for Indian students and the successful completion of a competitive entrance exam consisting of a written science test and an oral interview. With its affordable cost of living, comprehensive support services, and high-quality accommodations, the University of Pécs remains a premier destination for students seeking world-class medical education and research excellence.
