RMIT UNIVERSITY is a public university located in Melbourne, Australia. In 1992 it changed to a public university. Initially, it was a private college. The transformation happened after its merger with the Phillip Institute of Technology. Its previous names were Melbourne Technical College and Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. It was first established in 1887 by Francis Ormond.
