The entire campus is divided into two parts in Miami-Dade County. The main campus of Florida International University is Modesto Maidique, earlier named a university park. The main campus covers an area of 344 acres. The campus consists of 23 colleges offering several disciplines and programs. The second campus, named Biscayne Bay, is a regional campus and covers an area of 200 acres. The campuses own famous buildings such as FIU Stadium, FIU arena, sports complex, baseball stadium, libraries, and many more.
Research
The research program at the Florida International University is listed as an R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity. The FIU focuses on researching global problems providing real-life solutions. Some of the research in action are Aquarius Reef Base, wall of Wind, Arctic-ocean research, and many more.
