UNIVERSITY OF SUNSHINE COAST

University Dates and Numbers

The school was established in 1996 and it was known as Sunshine Coast University College. It started out with 524 students. In 1999, the school was renamed to University of the Sunshine Coast. Now the university has more than 17, 840 students. 

Disciplines

There are 7 major disciplines in the school. They include Creative Industries, Design and Communication; Business, Information Technology and Tourism; Education; Health, Nursing and Sports Sciences and Engineering and Science. The programs it offers include undergraduate and postgraduate. 

Facilities

The University of Sunshine has various facilities. This includes an Olympic pool. The campus buildings have designs that are environmentally sustainable. This is to cater to the school’s climate. The school also hosts several exhibitions in its art gallery. Other than that, it collects arts and sculptures. For its sporting activities, it has an indoor arena that seats 3000 people. Some of the activities that take place include Netball matches. 

Campuses and Faculty

The school has several campuses. This includes the Sippy Downs campus, Hervey Bay campus, Gympie campus and Caboolture campus. It also has an innovation center. The center provides office spaces, internet connection and offers coaching and support to business. The two main faculties in the university are Faculty of arts and Business and Faculty of Science, Health, Education and Engineering.

Research

The University of Sunshine lays major focus on research activities. The main areas are related to sustainability and regional engagement issues. Its major research groups are Sustainability Research Center and Genecology Research Group. It also has an Engagement center.
